Herbaria on The Hill

Yesterday I went to visit my friend Nancy, who works at "Herbaria" in a famous Italian St. Louis neighborhood called "The Hill".  This is where everyone who loves natural beauty products goes to find the most unique and exotic blends of scented soaps and related products.  We have been buying these heavenly soaps for more years than I can remember.

Shop owner Ken has come a long way since he started this delightful business in his home basement, where he began designing his own special mixes of secret ingredients to lure the most discriminating of  enthusiasts.

Ken began by selling at craft shows and by word of mouth.  Today his products are carried at such prestigious locations at the Missouri Botanical Gardens gift shop.

Usually one is greeted by the friendly shop mascot, Soapy, who by the way has her own special pet-friendly  non-scented Dog Soap.

But today Soapy was sleeping on the job, in her favorite location. by the front door.

Nancy showed me her favorite gift selections for Mother's Day.

All visitors to the shop are warmly welcomed to take a tour and see what goes on in back.

There is a large Shipping Department for all the internet buyers.

There are huge vats of wonderful ingredients in the Manufacturing Department.

And even a special area where children get to cut their own special shapes in the soaps.

Sweetface was delighted with the bath soap, the shaving soap, and the all-natural non-toxic insect repellant I brought home for him!  You can visit Herbaria's website HERE, and even order online.  You will love it for sure!

  3. what a wonderful intro for me to your blog :) I have already shared their website with several of my friends after seeing your 'field trip' and then going to the website myself. as soon as I run out of shea, I plan on ordering from them myself! Being a vegetarian since 1979, I love that they are veggie safe too!
