Making Guests Feel At Home

We have been blessed with a pretty much a non-stop parade of house guests for the past month, which is why I have not done a lot of blog posting.  I like the guests who stay overnight to feel pampered and right at home. (Having spent one night in someone's home miserably curled up on the couch under a blanket because I was horrified of the spiders crawling on webs between the bed and the night table, I never want one of my guests to spend a night like that!) One little thing that I like to provide our guests with is an assortment of toiletries in the bathroom.

When we travel and stay in hotels I collect all of the free soaps, lotions, and special little toiletry gifts that they provide.  I bring them home and put them in a bowl or large jar for my guests.  That way I don't have to worry at the last minute whether there is shampoo, or conditioner, or whatever they might need ready for them.  I encourage them to take home whatever they like when they go.

What do you like to provide for your house guests?

  1. Yes, I have a similar basket in my guest rooms and baths. I also add those 'free' oath rushes from the dentist and disposable razors (be sure to take out if little ones are nearby). Enjoy your visitors.

    1. Yes, isn't it fun to find a useful purpose for all those goodies?

  2. It is fun to do something extra for house guests! I usually leave something special on the pillows. Next to the beds I leave treats in a pretty little container - if they get a craving there are usually chocolates (of course) and little bags of snacks, nuts, pretzels, etc. and water. I try to find different bath time goodies also.
