Ham Salad Recipe

Okay, the first request I received for a recipe was from Little Pen Pen, asking for the ham salad.  Lucky for me, that's the easy-peasey one!  You just need the following:

A nice boneless ham, or de-boned ham.
Mayonnaise (or Miracle Whip)
Sweet Pickle Relish
You can also add a bit of mustard if you like.

I like to slice off a few nice ham steaks for a dinner meal.

Slice the ham into grinder-sized pieces.  If it has a tough skin remove that.

Put the ham through the grinder.

Then add just enough mayo and relish to make it all stick together.
Just add a large spoonful at a time until it is just right.
Better too little than too much--you want to taste the ham!

Stir together with a spoon until nicely blended.

Cut crusts off of your bread and fill with ham salad.
Freeze the crusts for later use as croutons or stuffing.
(Or give them to your friend, like Joy, for her chickens to eat!)

I know that is SO simple, but that is what makes it so good.
I dislike ham salad from any Deli because they put too much into it,
resulting in a watery, over-spiced ham salad.
This is also very good on crackers. Enjoy!

And a Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!

  1. This looks delicious and I think even "I" can do this. LOL A girl at work brought a small container from Honey Baked Ham to work last weekend... I mean small... maybe a cup?? and I saw the price on the container was over $8. Shucks, I love the grocery store stuff that is only around $3. ;))

  2. Making your own not only tastes better, but it is cheaper, too. You wont want the grocery store deli stuff anymore. :)
