Last Week's Accomplishments

Besides doing to typical every-week kind of tasks this past week, like house cleaning, cooking, shopping, laundry, etc.,  I also got a few other things done.
In the Finances/Cost-Cutting Department, Sweetface and I talked about it and then decided to open a new credit card for which we will receive 100,000 frequent flyer miles. Ordinarily we do not open new cards, but this was a big incentive as we plan a few trips over the next year and that will help. I also went to AT&T and discussed with them the fact that our cable/internet/land phone line bill is entirely too expensive, they showed me our options (which I won't go into here), and now Sweetface and I are still mulling over what we will cut--but cut we will! I also told the lawn mowing service to skip this week since the grass was not too bad, thus saving us one week's cost for that service.  I returned a top that I had bought to a store because it just wasn't one I needed, but then bought another one--but at least it was less expensive than the first, being on sale.

In the Ebay Departmment, I only listed 21 items this week--not great. Sometimes I am a slacker on that, getting too busy with other things. But that is my choice, and I'm usually more productive. It has been a slow past couple of weeks and I wasn't all that enthused. But today I was busy all morning, going through an assortment of 35 scarves that I bought recently for an average of $1.00 each.  They are so gorgeous! Mostly silk, all colorful and fun to play with. I went through each one and pressed the perfect ones, laid them across the upstairs railing according to size and shape. The ones where I found soiled spots were taken downstairs where I washed and rinsed them each by hand in cool Woolite (yes, you can wash silk scarves) and those are now hanging to dry on my vintage clothes rack on the porch. I am eager to see how many turn out nicely.

In the Creative Department, I spent most of Saturday finishing up some necklaces I've been working on for a couple of weeks.  I learned how to make my own bezels out of silver filled wire, which I attached to a lot of dichroic fused glass cabochons I had bought years ago.  It was time to do something useful with them after all this time, and I had a lot of vintage chains which finally got put to use, too.  I finished a couple dozen necklaces. I am undecided what to do with them now, but they are at least finished.

This week's biggest accomplishment, however, was getting "moved in" to my new craft organizer and work station chests in the studio--so exciting! While Daniel was here over the Memorial Day weekend he was so sweet to assemble these for me.

I bought them from Home Decorators Collection, which has a catalog but also a store near us.  Sweetface went with me when I bought them, and it was quite a splurge, but they were 15% off at the time with free shipping. I had lusted after them long enough and with his encouragement I went ahead and ordered them.  I love, love, LUV them! It was so fun to figure out where to put things, and I still have one empty drawer! Oh, the luxury! However, the rest of the studio is still in huge need of de-cluttering, so it won't be empty for long.

Now I can curl up and relax. (I wish!)

  2. Getting organized is a never ending process. But continually working on it at least keeps us from being stars on Hoarders.

    1. Yes, one of our options of course is to cancel cable altogether. We are contemplating that for sure. Just wondering if we want to be that cut off from the world. :-) Tempting!
